Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

At the future lot areas, the crew continued fill placement operations. Fill material was delivered using articulated dump trucks, spread and leveled in lifts using a crawler bulldozer, and compacted using a sheepsfoot roller. I observed the placement and compaction activities and performed in-place density testing on the compacted fill at selected locations. The density test results met the required compaction criteria at the locations tested.

At the roadway, in-place density tests were performed at selected locations. The test results met the required compaction criteria at some locations but did not meet the requirements at other locations. The crew was advised to rework and recompact the failed areas. Follow-up density testing will be required on the next working day to verify that the corrected areas meet the required compaction criteria.
