Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Our representative was onsite to observe proof-rolling of subgrade soils at Naturewalk parkway after 2″ to 6″ of fill was added to the existing subgrade. The proof-roll was observed along with members from the paving contractor (NWGP), Paulding County and Thompson Grading using a tandem dump truck loaded with 18.79 tons of base stone. The subgrade soils were observed between sanitary sewer manholes #12 and 14 approximately 842 lineal feet. The subgrade appeared stable under traffic but had several areas with scabbing and shear movement which varied from slight to moderate. Some areas with moderate movement were identified and marked for repair. The paving contractor also began placing base stone over subgrade soils as recommended. It was recommended to keep additional traffic off exposed subgrade soils to prevent further repairing.

The writer observed repairs being made at the unit 4 phase 3 eroded slopes along with fill placement for the future lots.

Observed work activities at the west side bridge abutment installation of reinforcing steel for the dead man footing.

The grading contractor also began subgrade preparation for sidewalk and curb backfill for the deceleration lane on Seven Hills Boulevard to phase 13 lots and observed the pipe contractor (Savannah) continue sanitary sewer installation between structures Z19.1 and Z 20.
