Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
On the above date our representative was on site to observe the pipe contractor Savannah installing approximately 400 lineal feet of 12 DIP. sanitary sewer line between manholes #3 and 2. The contractor set manhole #2 moving it west ten feet. The contractor backfilled over the sewer line and compacted using walk behind and small sheep-foot roller. The writer recommended additional compaction efforts using an off-road dump truck to achieve the required percent compaction of 98%. The writer also observed the contractor installing water lines and service meters at Unit 4 phase 2 using the small excavator bucket and tracking for compaction. The writer reminded and recommended to the contractor that additional compacting efforts are needed at water lines to prevent erosion and settlement causing reels and sink holes.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
