Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above our representative was on site to observe the grading contractor Thompson continue backfilling at the west side bridge abutment wall at sanitary sewer line installation between manhole #2 and the bridge opening over to the curb line. Density tests were performed using a Troxler Nuclear gauge model 3430, serial no. 91643.

The pipe contractor Savannah re-layed 18″ RCP storm line at east side of the bridge abutment.

The curbing contractor J&W poured seven curb inlets throat tops at NatureWalk parkway today. The reinforcing steel was observed to be in compliance with site specifications for size, spacing & quantity.

The writer also observed the grading contractor Thompson performing subgrade preparation at Seven Hills phase 13 Shelly Boulevard cutting to subgrade. It was recommended to proof-roll subgrade soils asap after cutting to subgrade and place GAB stone to prevent surface materials (light weight sandy silts) from drying out which would require additional clipping using extra base stone or leave the subgrade high until it time to place base stone.

The blasting contractor was onsite today and continued drilling hard rock onsite for blasting.

The pipe contractor Savannah was onsite and began installing B line storm at Pond A setting headwall BO ST HW and laying 30″ RCP to B2-ST-JB and start laying 24″ACCMP toward B3-ST-JB. The storm line was excavated through previous placed topsoil at slope embankment of Pond A.
