Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above date our representative was on site to observe the grading contractor continue excavation at the borrow pit and placing fill at building Lots #13 thru 15 using clean soil fill. The contractor also placed rockfill at the old temporary detention pond in roadway near sanitary sewer manhole Z19. Density tests were performed at building Lots #10 thru 14 using a Troxler Nuclear gauge model 3430, serial no. 91643. Compaction results were suitable as per job specifications. The rockfill placement at the old detention pond was in compliance with recommendations and suitable for compaction requirements. The contractor also began filling the excavated borrow pit with broken boulders.

The pipe contractor raised manholes Z19 and Z19.1.

The writer also observed existing stockpiled materials at south side at Shelly Boulevard by dug test pits to determine suitability for structure fill placement at building lots. The fill contained some boulders, topsoil and saturated soils. The materials were recommended for placement at the slope embankments. The material will be monitored during excavation to determine suitability for structure fill suitability.
