Observations/Finding

On the above date our AS Engineering & Consulting LLC representative visited the above referenced site to observe existing floor slab cracking. Our representative observed a moderate crack running from the left side of a front room through the coat closet over to the stairs. Another slight cracking was observed at the kitchen area running to the outside patio area. The moderate cracking appeared to be concrete-related possibly due to high slump conditions during placement. The cracking does not appear to be a foundation issue associated with footing bearing capacity. The house appeared to sit on a cut-fill site with most fill at the rear of the house in a slope area. The writer performed a hand auger boring to a depth of -20″ at the left side of house footing in line with the floor slab crack. The in-place soil material appeared to be residual and firm up to a depth of -18 “. The writer recommended to set a level in the foyer coat closet to monitor possible further cracking in the area observed to have the most cracking. This area was marked to be re-observed if the decision was made to monitor. Please see attached pictures.
