Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above date our representative observed the curbing contractor continue installing curbing at the entrance drive on the east side to the bridge abutment pouring a 3000-psi concrete mix.

The retaining wall contractor was onsite today and begin subbase preparation for the concrete bridge approach at the west side bridge abutment. The contractor also began to move the electrical conduits stub up to outside of curb area using a twenty-two-degree angle on the west side of bridge. During subbase preparation the contractor matched the elevation from the bridge abutment (10″) to twenty feet out matching to the poured curbing (15″). The contractor plans to pour a continuous apron twenty feet long across from cart path curb slab to south side drive lane including the median strip between lanes. The subbase stone was observed to be suitable for reinforcing steel placement. The contractor began placing rebar requiring #7 and #5 bars in a double mat.

The grading contractor continued subgrade preparation at the roadway to Unit 4, Phase 2 by continuing compacting efforts using a sheep-foot roller since a smooth drum roller was not available. The paving contractor agreed to complete subgrade compacting efforts with a smooth drum roller prior to proof-roll.

The electrical contractor continued conduit installation at Unit 4, Phase 1B. Compacting efforts continued the same.
