Our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative visited the site at the contractor's request to observe the placement of pipe. The contractor was observed connecting manhole D1 to manhole D2 with pipe. The contractor placed additional #57 stone approximately 6" to 8” beneath the pipe as bedding. The pipe was also covered with stone approximately 4 - 6" before starting the first backfill lift. The contractor is using pumps to keep groundwater out of the work area. We observed that the contractor did not place fabric prior to installing manhole D2. We recommended they use filter fabric over all stone prior to backfilling with soil. Due to a unsatisfactory weather day, backfilling was not begun. See attached photos.
