Observations/Finding

Summary *

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
<ul>
 	<li>Contractor continued scarifying and aerating the site to lower in-situ moisture contents using a Komatsu PC 360LC. Additionally, a Komatsu 39PXI dozer was employed for further drying efforts through grading operations.</li>
</ul>
Savannah Pipe Works:

The contractor continues installation and backfilling work on manholes D6 and D7 using a Kobelco SK 350LC excavator.

Following excavation, the backfill material was placed and compacted in one foot lifts. Compaction was achieved through a combination of manual compactors, Dynapac remote control compactor, and final compaction of the top layers with a HAMM R2 roller.

During our site inspection, it was observed that the compaction process was performed in accordance with project requirements. Soil density was tested using a nuclear density gauge. The results obtained met the job specifications of 95% of a standard proctor.
