Summary *

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
<ul>
 	<li>Upon arrival, the contractor was engaged in excavation using a Komatsu PC 360LC on the south of the project site. Fill was being transported with two tandem-axled dump trucks near the parking areas and tennis courts, while dozing was performed with a Komatsu 39PXI.</li>
 	<li>Boulder fill was used in backfilling under the tennis court with proof-rolling utilized to verify stability in lieu of density testing.</li>
</ul>
Savannah Pipe Works:

The contractor continues installation and backfilling work on manholes D4 and D5 using a Kobelco SK 350LC excavator. Following excavation, the backfill material was placed and compacted in one foot lifts. Compaction was achieved through a combination of manual compactors, Dynapac remote control compactor, and final compaction of the top layers with a HAMM R2 roller.

During our site inspection, it was observed that the compaction process was performed in accordance with project requirements. Soil density was tested using a nuclear density gauge. The results obtained met the job specifications of 95% of a standard proctor.

The excavation for Manhole C5 has commenced, and during the process, rock boulders were encountered along with the presence of a water drain, which began to fill the excavation pit. As a result, it was recommended to the contractor to dewater following the stopping of seepage then demuck prior to continued backfilling. Once the water is adequately drained and the subgrade stable, work will continue the following day.
