Summary
*
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day. <p class="" data-start="84" data-end="108"><strong data-start="84" data-end="108">Project Information:</strong></p> <ul data-start="109" data-end="403"> <li class="" data-start="109" data-end="140"> <p class="" data-start="111" data-end="140"><strong data-start="111" data-end="128">Project Name:</strong> Naturewalk</p> </li> <li class="" data-start="141" data-end="156"> <p class="" data-start="143" data-end="156"><strong data-start="143" data-end="153">Phase:</strong> 6B</p> </li> <li class="" data-start="157" data-end="216"> <p class="" data-start="159" data-end="216"><strong data-start="159" data-end="172">Location:</strong> Behind Lots #1035 and #1036 (Azalea Crossing)</p> </li> <li class="" data-start="217" data-end="403"> <p class="" data-start="219" data-end="239"><strong data-start="219" data-end="239">Parties Present with ASEC Technician:</strong></p> <ul data-start="242" data-end="403"> <li class="" data-start="242" data-end="295"> <p class="" data-start="244" data-end="295"><strong data-start="244" data-end="251">Cal McShan</strong> Project Manager, Artison Built Communities</p> </li> <li class="" data-start="298" data-end="353"> <p class="" data-start="300" data-end="353"><strong data-start="300" data-end="326">Grading Superintendent</strong>, Artison Built Communities</p> </li> <li class="" data-start="356" data-end="403"> <p class="" data-start="358" data-end="403"><strong data-start="358" data-end="375">Clay Anderson</strong>, Owner, Advanced Explosives</p> </li> </ul> </li> </ul> <p class="" data-start="405" data-end="425"><strong data-start="405" data-end="425">Meeting Summary:</strong></p> <p class="" data-start="427" data-end="819">A site meeting was requested by Project Manager Cal McShan from Artison Built Communities at Naturewalk, specifically regarding the ongoing sewer installation project in Phase 6B. The meeting involved discussions between the project manager, the grading superintendent, and Clay Anderson, the owner of Advanced Explosives, regarding issues encountered during the excavation work for the sewer line.</p> <p class="" data-start="821" data-end="1199"><strong data-start="821" data-end="844">Project Background:</strong> The future sewer installation for Phase 6B is located behind Lots #1035 and #1036 (Azalea Crossing) at Naturewalk. During excavation efforts to place the sewer line, rock was encountered at approximately 7 feet in depth. However, the total required excavation depth for the sewer line is approximately 20 feet, creating a potential for increased rock interference.</p> <p class="" data-start="1201" data-end="1615"><strong data-start="1201" data-end="1221">Concerns Raised:</strong> The project manager, Cal, raised concerns about the proximity of the excavation and blasting to the completed homes located on Lots #1035 and #1036. The close distance to these homes posed potential vibration risks associated with blasting operations. Mr. Clay Anderson, representing Advanced Explosives, stated that the planned blasting operations were within acceptable safety distances from the homes.</p> <p class="" data-start="1617" data-end="2059"><strong data-start="1617" data-end="1633">Action Plan:</strong> Given the concerns raised, a decision was made to proceed with a more thorough evaluation before continuing with the blasting. Mr. Anderson outlined that Advanced Explosives would begin drilling tomorrow to assess the entire length of the future sewer placement. This drilling will help determine if further rock issues or challenges are encountered along the sewer path, which extends from Lot #1036 to an adjacent project. The exact distance of the sewer installation was unknown.</p> <p class="" data-start="2261" data-end="2673"><strong data-start="2261" data-end="2276">Conclusion:</strong> No work was completed on-site during this meeting. The next step involves the initiation of drilling operations to further assess the rock conditions along the planned sewer route. Further discussions and evaluations will take place once the results of the drilling are analyzed. The safety and proximity of blasting operations to the completed homes will remain a priority during the ongoing project.</p> <p class="" data-start="2675" data-end="2695"><strong data-start="2675" data-end="2695">Recommendations:</strong></p> <ul data-start="2696" data-end="3051"> <li class="" data-start="2696" data-end="2786"> <p class="" data-start="2698" data-end="2786">Continue monitoring the drilling and blasting operations for any potential safety risks.</p> </li> <li class="" data-start="2787" data-end="2924"> <p class="" data-start="2789" data-end="2924">Review drilling results carefully to ensure that all rock issues are identified before proceeding with further excavation and blasting.</p> </li> <li class="" data-start="2925" data-end="3051"> <p class="" data-start="2927" data-end="3051">Maintain open communication between all parties involved, especially concerning the safety of nearby residential properties.</p> </li> </ul>
