As requested, an ASEC representative visited the project site from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM to provide quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and approved material submittals.

The embankment work was in progress in Lots #7, 8, 9, 10, and 11. Approximately 2 ft of rock-and-dirt fill was placed in the lots. All procedures related to material placement was observed. Larger rocks (greater than 12 inches) were instructed to be broken into smaller pieces before placement. The material was compacted using the 815K roller, after which a proof-roll was performed with a loaded truck available on site. No significant movement or instability of the embankment was observed. The approximate depths after this layer were recorded as follows: Lot #7 – 6 ft, Lot #8 – 10 ft, Lot #9 – 10 ft, Lot #10 – 8.5 ft, and Lot #11 – 7 ft. Following this, a new layer was started by the contractor. It was recommended not to use rocks larger than 4 inches in Lot #7 (6 ft to the final layer).

Additionally, re-compaction was conducted in Lots #17 and 18 using both the 815K roller and a 16-ton roller. The lots were retested, and the re-test results were recorded in the field density reports.

Drilling operations were also carried out by Advance Explosive Company on the west side of Lot #25 toward Manhole #10. Holes were drilled at approximately 7 ft by 7 ft spacing using a 3.5-inch bit. Random depth checks were performed and confirmed against the drill operator’s log sheet. Results indicated:

Drill #1 completed nine holes at a depth of 18 ft and fifteen holes at 14 ft, with rock encountered between 0–3 ft.

Drill #2 completed eight holes at a depth of 24 ft, six holes at 14 ft, and twenty holes at 14 ft, with rock encountered between 1–3 ft.

Drill #3 completed ten holes at 24 ft, fifteen holes at 18 ft, and nine holes at 14 ft, with rock encountered between 6–11 ft.

The equipment in operation for the day included three drilling machines, one 815K roller, one sheepsfoot roller, two dozers, four trucks, and two excavators.

Overall, the day’s work was completed without major issues. We appreciate the opportunity to provide our services on this project, and should there be any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us.
