Observations/Finding
Summary
*
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day. <h3 data-start="443" data-end="496">Subject: Observation of Burrito Wrap Installation</h3> <p data-start="498" data-end="687">A request was made to observe the installation of burrito wraps (French drains) at the above-referenced site. Upon arrival, a site meeting was held with Eric, the foreman from Carmichael Construction.</p> <p data-start="689" data-end="1026">It was determined during the meeting that the <strong data-start="735" data-end="834">first burrito wrap installation had been completed prior to the site visit and was not observed</strong>. The focus of the current visit was to observe the start of the <strong data-start="899" data-end="935">second burrito wrap installation</strong>, which will span from <strong data-start="959" data-end="975">STC1 to STC3</strong>, with an approximate total length of <strong data-start="1013" data-end="1025">180 feet</strong>.</p> <p data-start="1028" data-end="1187">A <strong data-start="1030" data-end="1051">temporary manhole</strong> had been installed at the northern end of the installation area to allow for future pumping of water if necessary (see attached photo).</p> <h3 data-start="1189" data-end="1208">Equipment Used:</h3> <ul data-start="1209" data-end="1307"> <li data-start="1209" data-end="1238"> <p data-start="1211" data-end="1238"><strong data-start="1211" data-end="1238">Komatsu PC390 Excavator</strong></p> </li> <li data-start="1239" data-end="1270"> <p data-start="1241" data-end="1270"><strong data-start="1241" data-end="1270">Caterpillar 323 Excavator</strong></p> </li> <li data-start="1271" data-end="1307"> <p data-start="1273" data-end="1307"><strong data-start="1273" data-end="1307">Caterpillar 938 Wheeled Loader</strong></p> </li> </ul> <h3 data-start="1309" data-end="1328">Work Performed:</h3> <ul data-start="1329" data-end="1796"> <li data-start="1329" data-end="1426"> <p data-start="1331" data-end="1426">A ditch was excavated from <strong data-start="1358" data-end="1376">south to north</strong>, aligned with the temporary manhole (see photos).</p> </li> <li data-start="1427" data-end="1507"> <p data-start="1429" data-end="1507">The work observed on this day was located beneath a <strong data-start="1481" data-end="1506">future detention pond</strong>.</p> </li> <li data-start="1508" data-end="1586"> <p data-start="1510" data-end="1586">A <strong data-start="1512" data-end="1550">geotextile fabric</strong> was placed in the excavated trench.</p> </li> <li data-start="1587" data-end="1648"> <p data-start="1589" data-end="1648">Approximately <strong data-start="1603" data-end="1621">3 feet of rock</strong> was added over the fabric.</p> </li> <li data-start="1649" data-end="1796"> <p data-start="1651" data-end="1796">A <strong data-start="1653" data-end="1687">solid corrugated drainage pipe</strong> was installed in the center of the trench and connected at the end to the <strong data-start="1762" data-end="1783">temporary manhole</strong> (see photo).</p> </li> </ul> <h3 data-start="1798" data-end="1808">Notes:</h3> <ul data-start="1809" data-end="2030"> <li data-start="1809" data-end="1890"> <p data-start="1811" data-end="1890">No additional observations were made following this initial installation phase.</p> </li> <li data-start="1891" data-end="2030"> <p data-start="1893" data-end="2030"><strong data-start="1893" data-end="1968">Further work will be required to complete the burrito wrap installation</strong>, and additional site visits may be necessary for observation.</p> </li> </ul> We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project.
