Observations/Finding
Summary
*
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day. On the above date our representative was on site to observe asphalt paving located at the east and west sides of the deceleration lanes on Seven Hills Boulevard. Placing also began at the milled area of recommended repair for the exit drive lane. The paving contractor NWGP placed 170.83 tons of 25 mm base asphalt mix. The writer observed asphalt depths along the curb lines/saw cut edge along Seven Hills blvd. The thicknesses varied from 7.0" to 7.75". The pavement depths were also observed to be measured by tape measure and contractor paving metal rod stick. It was observed having at least 4" of 25 mm base mix in place. The contractor also placed 203.29 tons, 11 loads of 19mm binder mix at the drive entrance and exit drive. The writer also observed edges being tacked with liquid asphalt. Concrete curb repairs were also observed at the drive exit lane. Recommended additional full depth milled area at exit deceleration lane on Seven Hills Boulevard in which was previously only milled 1.5". Also, at the exit lane, tapered edge subbase movement was observed possibly due to in place utilities. Recommended to check if subbase could be clipped -4" and replaced with additional 25mm base mix. We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
