Observations/Finding
Summary
*
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day. Our ASEC representative was on site for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill. The contractor continued placing structural fill along Lots #1 through #4 slope and edge of building pads. The contractor is benching into the natural ground as they work their way up the natural slope. Lifts are being placed in approximately 8 inches to 12 inches in thickness and compacted with an 815 sheeps-foot roller. As the loaded trucks roll across the lifts, ASEC is watching for pumping/rutting and checking for stability of the lift. There have been no signs of severe pumping/rutting, and the lifts appear to be stable. Density testing was performed approximately every 2 feet. Fill was excavated from the pond located from the front of the site by deceleration lane. All topsoil is placed along the bank in the pond (greenspace). ASEC reviewed site plans with the contractor. ASEC was informed the large open area to the right of the main pond (front of site by deceleration lane) is a commercial lot area. ASEC will perform density testing in this area as structural fill is placed. The contractor placed structures BC4.1 and BC4.2 in the deceleration lane and began backfilling. Once the contractor backfilled approximately 2 feet over the pipeline, ASEC began density testing approximately every 2 feet. All test results were provided to the contractor, and any failing tests were addressed. We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
