Observations/Finding
Summary
*
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Work continued the following day at Pond 1, where excavation activities progressed in the north direction to extend the underground stormwater detention system. Soil was excavated to the required design elevation using a CAT excavator, and the excavation base was leveled and fine-graded. Once the design elevation was achieved, a non-woven geotextile fabric was placed along the bottom and sides of the excavation.

After fabric placement, a gravel bedding layer was installed and leveled for the detention pipes. The crew then installed corrugated metal pipes (CMP). Pipe sections were set in place using chains and the excavator and along the trench. Installation at Pond 1 continued for an approximate pipe length of 40 lineal feet. Gravel was placed between the pipes and along both sides. Fabric was maintained along the sides to prevent soil migration into the stone.

Simultaneously, work advanced at Pond 3, where the crew excavated an additional 10 feet of soil beyond the previous excavation limits to expand the detention system footprint. The excavation base was leveled and graded, and unsuitable material was removed as needed to achieve a stable subgrade. A non-woven geotextile fabric was placed throughout the excavated area, followed by installation and leveling of a gravel bedding layer.

At Pond 3, the crew installed two corrugated metal detention pipes, each with a 6-foot diameter, extending approximately 40 feet in lineal length. Pipes were lowered into position using the excavator and aligned to the design layout. Gravel was placed along the sides of the pipes and around the bedding area. The geotextile fabric remained in place.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
