Observations/Finding
Summary
*
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day. On the above date our representative was on site to observe the grading contractor continue placing fill for building Lots #41 thru 37 and Lot #56. The contractor also placed mulch chips for the embankment toe of slope near building Lots #38 and 37. The writer also performed density tests between Lots #41 and 37 using a Troxler Nuclear gauge model 3430, serial no. 91643. Also performed density tests at Lot #56. All compaction results were in compliance with job specifications. The contractor continued topsoil stripping and slope embankment fill near building Lot #56. The blasting contractor was on site today and continued rock test drilling with Thompson Grading. The pipe contractor, Savannah, was on site today and filled in eroded gullies at Naturewalk Parkway between sanitary sewer structures #10 and 12. The contractor tracked loose fill into eroded areas using a dozer, however, was reminded that all these areas will require additional compacting efforts and testing. The pipe contractor also installed 30" RCP storm line between manholes #D8 and D9. The writer also observed contaminated in-place base stone between sanitary sewer structures #6 and 9 where washed silt has covered rock areas ranging from 2' to 12' due to recent rain events. These areas will require subbase repair, and it is recommended to keep all traffic off the subbase until repairs are completed. A diversion berm should be reinstalled at the top of the contaminated area to prevent additional damage with anticipated rain events. We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
