<h3 data-start="574" data-end="596">FIELD OBSERVATIONS</h3> <p data-start="598" data-end="885">On the above date, an AS Engineering and Consulting, LLC (ASEC) representative visited the site at the contractor’s request to <strong data-start="725" data-end="793">observe earthwork operations and perform quality control testing</strong> in accordance with the project drawings, specifications, and approved materials submittals.</p> <p data-start="887" data-end="1203">On this date, the contractor completed <strong data-start="926" data-end="965">backfill placement at the wall area</strong> to an approximate total height of <strong data-start="1000" data-end="1010">6 feet</strong> using multiple <strong data-start="1026" data-end="1046">controlled lifts</strong>. Backfill was placed in thin lifts, <strong data-start="1083" data-end="1119">moisture conditioned as required</strong>, and compacted using a <strong data-start="1143" data-end="1202">sheepsfoot roller in conjunction with tracked equipment</strong>.</p> <h3 data-start="1205" data-end="1228">TESTING AND RESULTS</h3> <p data-start="1230" data-end="1436">Field <strong data-start="1236" data-end="1279">in-place density and compaction testing</strong> was performed at approximately <strong data-start="1311" data-end="1340">2-foot vertical intervals</strong>. All test results <strong data-start="1359" data-end="1408">met project-specified compaction requirements</strong> at the time of observation.</p> <h3 data-start="1438" data-end="1465">ADDITIONAL OBSERVATIONS</h3> <p data-start="1467" data-end="1949">The contractor also excavated soils from the <strong data-start="1512" data-end="1562">central portion of the proposed detention pond</strong> for evaluation of suitability as backfill material. Soils excavated below approximately <strong data-start="1651" data-end="1661">3 feet</strong> exhibited <strong data-start="1672" data-end="1716">softer consistency and darker coloration</strong>, indicative of more <strong data-start="1737" data-end="1765">organic-leaning material</strong>. Based on visual observation and material condition, these deeper soils were considered <strong data-start="1854" data-end="1895">less suitable for structural backfill</strong> and were <strong data-start="1905" data-end="1948">not recommended for use behind the wall</strong>.</p> <p data-start="1951" data-end="2095">No instability, rutting, or movement was observed in the completed backfill areas. Earthwork operations are expected to <strong data-start="2071" data-end="2094">continue as planned</strong>.</p>
