Observations/Finding
Summary
*
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day. Our representative was on site to observe the grading contractor continue placing fill for building Lots #57 thru #59 at basement elevations -11 feet. The contractor also placed fill for building Lots #35 and #34 at elevation 883 (-13 feet). The fill was placed in compacted lifts that met job requirements. Density testing will be performed later today with results in a future report. The writer also observed the pipe contractor continue to install 24" RCP storm line to manhole structure D12. An 18" RCP storm line was also installed from structure D12 to D19 and backfilled. Density tests were performed on the backfill using a Troxler Nuclear gauge model 3430, serial no. 91643. Results will be presented in a future report. The contractor also continued installing 8" PVC sanitary sewer line between structure #12 and 13. The contractor installed thirty-two feet of 8" PVC pipe, pipe bedding and continued backfilling over the pipe using No. #57 stone. Note: The pipe contractor hammered rock to install thirty-two feet of 8" PVC sanitary sewer pipe (1.25 hours of hammering rock today). Also spoke with the blasting contractor (Clay with Advance) who was onsite yesterday (1/27/26) and received information from Thompson Grading and Savannah today that the Blast contractor performed test drill holes verifying un-blasted soft rock which was determined to be suitable to hammer and excavate using normal construction equipment. Note: Test drilled approximately 80 to 100 lineal feet. Rock was hammered for a 20' x 8' x 6' area between the sanitary sewer structures #12 and #13 with 3 hours spent hammering. The pipe contractor (Savannah) on 1/21/26 hammered rock for the 24" RCP storm line between D11 and D12 (28' x 6' x 5') and between structures 12 and 12A (40' x 8' x 6') for total hours of 4.0. The contractors were reminded to notify ASEC when plans are made to test drill or hammer rock during inclement weather. We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
