<h2 data-start="369" data-end="386"><strong data-start="372" data-end="386">1. Purpose</strong></h2> <p data-start="388" data-end="729">At the request of a representative of Carmichael, a proof-roll evaluation was performed on the entrance and deceleration lane of Greene Farm. This request was made following a failed county inspection earlier in the day. The purpose of the proof-roll was to assess the stability of the existing subgrade and base materials.</p> <hr data-start="731" data-end="734" /> <h2 data-start="736" data-end="756"><strong data-start="739" data-end="756">2. Background</strong></h2> <p data-start="758" data-end="1079">Earlier in the day, the entrance and deceleration lane did not pass county inspection (ASEC was not on-site during inspection and had not made specific recommendations in the area previously). Specific deficiencies noted by the county were not provided at the time of this evaluation. Following the failed inspection, Carmichael requested an independent field assessment and written evaluation with remediation recommendations.</p> <hr data-start="1081" data-end="1084" /> <h2 data-start="1086" data-end="1125"><strong data-start="1089" data-end="1125">3. Field Evaluation – Proof-Roll</strong></h2> <p data-start="1127" data-end="1260">A proof roll was performed across the width and length of the entrance and deceleration lane (see attached photo documentation).</p> <h3 data-start="1262" data-end="1276"><strong data-start="1266" data-end="1276">Method</strong></h3> <p data-start="1277" data-end="1451">The proof-roll was performed using loaded construction equipment consistent to evaluate subgrade stability.</p> <h3 data-start="1453" data-end="1473"><strong data-start="1457" data-end="1473">Observations</strong></h3> <ul data-start="1474" data-end="1690"> <li data-start="1474" data-end="1565"> <p data-start="1476" data-end="1565">Visual observation noted excessive pumping and rutting during proof-rolling activities.</p> </li> </ul> <hr data-start="1801" data-end="1804" /> <h2 data-start="1806" data-end="1838"><strong data-start="1809" data-end="1838">4. Preliminary Evaluation</strong></h2> <p data-start="1840" data-end="1874">Based on the proof-roll performed:</p> <ul data-start="1876" data-end="2086"> <li data-start="1876" data-end="1985"> <p data-start="1878" data-end="1985">Areas exhibiting deflection or pumping indicate insufficient subgrade support with the possibility of water intrusion under the subgrade.</p> </li> </ul> <p data-start="2088" data-end="2175">Our representatives will return next week to observe additional proof-rolling and test pit explorations to determine the best recommendation for remediation.</p>
