Observations/Finding
Summary
*
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day. Our representative was on site to observe the grading contractor begin placing rock fill after blasting was performed at the slope embankment north of Lot #66. The contractor was reminded that all rock fill placed for the slope embankment or building lots be placed in lifts according to size of rock and be compacted using a vibratory sheep-foot roller or using a loaded off-road dump truck after every lift placement averaging two feet to three feet. The pipe contractor continued installing 8" ductile iron sanitary sewer line between manholes # B-2 and B-4 (and backfilling). Density tests were performed using a Troxler Nuclear gauge model 3430, serial no. 91643. Compaction results were suitable for job specifications. The blasting contractor performed a blast today for Lots #47 and 48 and also continued drilling at Lots #42 and 43. The paving contractor continued the undercutting of recommended subgrade repair areas between manholes #6 and 9 on Naturewalk Boulevard that was estimated to be 252 tons of extra base rock to stabilize the subgrade. A moderate amount of movement was observed under proof-roll traffic. The undercut areas averaged -8" with some isolated areas at -12". The base stone placement observed today appears to be coming from two different sources with one source having more finer materials. The contractor stated that the finer materials were coming from there office and have had great results in compacting. We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
