Observations/Finding
Summary
*
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day:
Geogrid installation was observed within the connector area between Taxiway A3 (Station 40+00 to Station 35+00). Following placement of the geogrid, No. 4 stone was placed over the grid and graded to the required elevations using a motor grader. The No. 4 stone layer was then compacted utilizing a ride-on vibratory smooth drum roller. Subsequently, geotextile fabric was placed over the compacted stone layer. Graded Aggregate Base (GAB) was then placed above the fabric, with water applied to facilitate compaction. Final compaction of the GAB layer was achieved using a ride-on vibratory smooth drum roller.

At the request of a representative from LEAD Edge engineering, the subgrade in the future Taxiway A4 area between the duct bank and previously installed storm drainpipe was bladed to achieve proper grade. This work was observed and completed.

Per direction from the UES representative on the previous day no geotextile fabric or geogrid was utilized within this section (between the duct bank and storm drainpipe). approximately 12 inches of No. 4 stone was placed directly in this area.

No further observations were made.
