Summary
*
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day. On Thursday, April 9, paving operations resumed with completion of the remaining two lanes from the previous work area. Density testing and compaction results in this section were acceptable, with all readings meeting project specifications. Following completion, the crew mobilized to the opposite side of the building near the tank farm area. This section consisted of approximately 10 lanes, each measuring about 183 feet in length and 12 feet in width. Paving was completed for seven lanes; however, operations were paused before the final lanes due to proximity to the fuel tanks. Per airport authority instructions, work in this area is to proceed cautiously at a slower pace. The crew then shifted operations to the area adjacent to the terminal, continuing from the previous day’s work. Two lanes were placed in this section, each approximately 70 feet long and 20 feet wide. Density testing and quality control checks were performed, and all results met required specifications. Additional verification testing was performed on the previously completed seven lanes near the building, confirming compaction. Compaction efforts utilized a combination of static and vibratory rolling to achieve density. Subsequently, paving operations progressed to the exit lane connecting the runway to the taxiway at approximately Station 83+30. This section also yielded acceptable results, with all quality control checks passing. Work then continued toward the drive area adjacent to Taxiway A1 to A3. Paving and compaction activities in this section were completed without issues, and all testing indicated compliance with project requirements. Overall, paving operations for the day were successfully executed, with all tested areas meeting specification standards. We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
