Observations/Finding
Summary
*
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day:
Area 1
Excess soil was removed from the site. A concrete box (Type B inlet) was installed adjacent to an existing drainage structure. An approximately 26-inch core was drilled into the side of the existing structure to connect the two systems. M10 sand was placed and compacted using a trench packer. Compaction testing was performed with a Troxler 3430 (refer to testing report). Topsoil was then delivered and placed using a cultipacking attachment.

Area 3
Upon arrival, the final lift had been placed and was undergoing compaction with a ride-on vibratory sheepsfoot roller. Compaction testing was performed using a Troxler 3430 (see testing report). Following successful completion of the final lift and testing, topsoil was delivered to the area.

Area 4
On the west side of Area 4, backfill for the second lift above the drain pipe was tested after compaction and determined to have excessively high moisture content (see testing report). The material was removed and replaced; however, the replacement soil also exhibited unacceptable moisture levels. Upon recommendation from 2MNext, graded aggregate base (GAB) was mixed with the existing soil to reduce overall moisture content. Refer to the testing report for results. Excess soil was hauled offsite.

Area 6
Graded aggregate base (GAB) was placed.
