Observations/Finding
Summary
*
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day. At manhole A12, the crew began utility installation activities by excavating the trench to the required line and grade. The exposed subgrade was then leveled and prepared to provide a stable foundation for pipe installation. A layer of No. 59 stone bedding was placed and graded evenly along the trench bottom. Following preparation, an 8-inch PVC pipe was installed in the north direction toward B18, maintaining the required slope and alignment. After installation, additional No. 59 stone was placed around the pipe as bedding and initial backfill. The trench was then backfilled with suitable backfill material in one lift of approximately 6 to 8 inches thick and compacted using a trench compactor. Simultaneously, work progressed in the west direction from manhole A12 where the crew excavated and leveled the trench subgrade for another utility line installation. No. 59 stone was placed as bedding material to create a stable base for the pipe. The crew then installed a 6-inch PVC pipe. After placement, additional No. 59 stone was installed around the pipe for embedment. Backfill material was placed in one lift and compacted using a trench compactor. At the bridge wall area, another crew continued structural operations by removing the formwork from both sides of the completed wall section. On the opposite side of the structure, additional crew members began installing reinforcing steel for upcoming footing construction [observation only]. We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
