Summary

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day. Marked the designated locations for coring and performed core drilling using a core cutter at each marked point. After drilling, the core samples were carefully removed, measured for thickness and joint width and labeled for identification. The drilled holes were then cleaned using compressed air to remove loose debris and dust. Silicone sealant and foam backer rod were installed in the holes, and the openings were sealed after completion of the coring activities. A total of 14 cores were obtained from various locations across the project areas. Of these, 6 cores were taken from construction and expansion joints associated with the Airfield Repairs Project, while 8 cores were taken from Asphalt Concrete (A/C) joint sealants associated with the Airfield Shoulder Replacement Project. On the Airfield Repairs Project, a total of 5 construction joints and 1 expansion joint were cored. Construction joint widths measured approximately 0.3 inches to 0.5 inches, while the expansion joint measured approximately 1 inch wide. On the Airfield Shoulder Replacement Project, a total of 8 Asphalt Concrete (A/C) joints were cored at intervals of approximately every 500 feet. The measured thickness of the A/C joint sealants ranged from approximately 0.4 inches to 0.9 inches. Construction joints on the project were generally spaced at approximately every 100 feet. All collected samples were labeled and delivered to the ATLQA Laboratory for further evaluation and testing. <h3>Test Locations</h3> <h4>Airfield Repairs Project</h4> <ol> <li>Three cores were cut from three replacement slabs located on Taxiway (TWY) B between TWY H and TWY B-1.</li> <li>Three additional cores were cut from two panels located on TWY E-1 between Runway (RWY) 8R-26L and TWY E.</li> </ol> <h4>Airfield Shoulder Replacement Project</h4> <ol> <li>One A/C joint core was obtained on the east shoulder of TWY E1 between RWY 8R-26L and TWY B.</li> <li>One A/C joint core was obtained on the east shoulder of TWY B2 between RWY 8R and TWY B.</li> <li>One A/C joint core was obtained on the east shoulder of TWY H between RWY 8L-26R.</li> <li>One A/C joint core was obtained on the west shoulder of TWY B-1 between RWY 8L-26R and TWY B.</li> <li>Two A/C joint cores were obtained on the south shoulder of RWY 8L-26R between TWY B1 and TWY B3.</li> <li>Two A/C joint cores were obtained on the south shoulder of RWY 8L-26R between TWY B3 and TWY B5.</li> </ol> We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project.
