Observations/Finding
Summary
*
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Approximately 200 lineal feet of curbing using a 3,000-psi concrete mix continued to be placed on this day; see photos.

Backfilling on the Mount Moriah (west) side of the bridge continued. A Caterpillar excavator was used to load material, while two off-road tandem dump trucks transported material from the cut area of the Parkway Extension to the bridge location. A skid steer, ride-on vibratory sheepsfoot compactor, and trench packer were used for placement and compaction. A proof-roll was performed using a loaded tandem dump truck with the grading crew on site. Some movement was observed at 4 feet below finished grade, and a request was made to remediate the localized areas exhibiting movement. Later in the day, two compaction tests were performed using a Troxler 3430 nuclear density gauge (Serial No. 92204).

No work was being performed in the Landin area at the time of the inspection.
In the rear area of the amenities section, backfill was being placed for the roadway; see photos. The material was excavated and transported to the location using an excavator and two off-road dump trucks. A bulldozer and ride-on vibratory sheepsfoot compactor were used for placement and compaction. At the time of the inspection, the grade was approximately 16 feet below finished grade. Two compaction tests were performed using a Troxler 3430 nuclear density gauge (Serial No. 92204). The material being placed was identified as brown sandy silt. No further observations were made on this day.
