Observations/Finding
Summary
*
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day. On the above date our representative was on site to observe the paving contractor J&W continue subbase preparation, placing base stone at the roadway from Lot #28 to the cul-de-sac. The sub grade was re observed for the cul-de-sac after truck traffic was turning around during placing base stone causing additional rutting. It was reminded to the contractor that all trucks should be backing in and back dumping keeping off the exposed subgrade which will cause further clipping and cost for additional base stone. The average undercut at the cul-de-sac is -8" replacing with additional base stone. The writer observed the grading contractor Thompson continue placing fill for the roadway and slope embankment near the detention pond between B2 ST JB and AO STHW. The contractor continued placing topsoil for the slope embankment to two to three feet in depth. The contractor is reminded that storm lines must be installed through embankment fill and should be clean and compacted. The writer continued observing backfill placement at the bridge abutment which was stopped by the wall contractor RWS who provided a sketch slowing to stop fill placement -8" down below pipe opening and extend 20' outward from wall to allow tightening of the tension rods. We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
