Observations/Finding
Summary
*
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day. On the above date our representative was on site to observe the paving contractor J&W continue placing base stone for the roadway to the cul-de-sac. The contractor also began to fine grade and compact base stone materials. A proof-roll for the subbase stone is scheduled for tomorrow. The writer observed the grading contractor Thompson continue placing a topsoil berm at the slope embankment only using a dozer to track material in place. The writer will observe installation of storm pipe through the embankment fill and determine repair measures necessary. The contractor has been informed of compaction requirements. The writer also observed the pipe contractor Savannah begin installation of 36" RCP storm line at the detention pond from outfall structure FO-STHW to F1-OCS. The contractor excavated through the existing dam embankment laying approximately 72 lineal feet of pipe. The pipe was bedded on suitable bearing residual soils. The writer also observed the grading contractor Thompson continue placing fill at the slope embankment at Naturewalk Parkway bridge abutment between manholes #3 and #2. The contractor used previous stockpiled soils having above optimum moistures with boulders with the contractor removing most of large boulders and compacting fill placement using a vibratory sheep-foot roller. The wall contractor RWS did not begin excavating over placed fill at the abutment wall. We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
