Observations/Finding

Summary *

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above date our representative was on site to observe the paving contractor J&amp;W place approximately 200 tons of 19mm SP binder asphalt mix for the roadway from Plantation Gas line crossing to the cul-de-sac. The contractor applied tack coat to curb line prior to asphalt paving. The asphalt appeared to be placed in compliance with standard procedures using compacting equipment. The mix temperatures taken were approximately 295, 310 and 305 degrees, Fahrenheit.

The writer also observed the pipe contractor Savannah complete forming and pouring anti-seep collars for the Pond A OCS using a a 3000-psi concrete mix. Reinforcing steel (#4 bars) were observed in form work and standing water at the first collar was pumped out prior to placing concrete. The contractor also poured the invert in the OCS and foundation slab for the trash rack.

The writer observed the grading contractor Thompson continue placing topsoil fill at the roadway embankment and structure fill for the roadway. The contractor was also reminded that structure fill placement at the roadway should not exceed 12" which was being placed in lifts exceeding 24".
