Observations/Finding
Summary
*
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day. On the above date our representative was on site to observe the grading contractor Thompson continue placing fill at roadway and cut fill Lots #1 thru 9. The writer performed density tests at roadway using a Troxler Nuclear gauge model 3430, serial no. 91643 and observed the contractor placing fill at Lots #1 and 2 at elevation -2' below subgrade with recommendation to contractor to use off road dump truck for additional compacting efforts with additional density tests to be performed by DCP testing to verify full depth of fill appearing to be at least eight feet at the rear corner. The writer observed backfill placement for the Pond A OCS 36" RCP storm line observing and testing the remaining five feet of fill that was placed in compliance with job specifications. The writer also observed the pipe contractor Savannah excavate to install 12" DIP sanitary sewer line between the east side bridge abutment and structure #1 and 1A. The writer observed the paving contractor NWGP continue subbase preparation at Naturewalk parkway between sanitary sewer manholes #10 and 12 and began subgrade preparation between manholes #3 and 2. The subgrade was cut to the design elevation then was observed as recommended by the writer to proof-roll using an off road dump truck loaded with onsite materials due to late notice and that a tandem dump truck couldn't be obtained. The subgrade was recommended for clipping 4" to 6" in isolated areas having slight to moderate movement under traffic and to replace with additional base stone. Also, this allows the paving contractor to set up trucks for tomorrow and begin hauling base stone with additional recommendations made to reobserve subgrade proof-rolling using a tandem dump truck. The contractor began clipping out the recommended areas with movement. The writer observed the curbing contractor remove and replace approximately 300 lineal feet of 30" curbing at Naturewalk parkway between sanitary sewer manholes #12 and 13. We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
