Observations/Finding
Summary
*
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day. On the above date our representative was on site to observe the grading contractor Thompson continue backfill at the east side bridge abutment using mixed materials (soils, GAB and #4 stone) which was compacted using a vibratory sheep-foot roller. The compacting efforts were suitable as per job specifications. The wall contractor RWS continued and completed hanging roll hangers for sanitary sewer installation under the bridge. The pipe contractor Savannah began pushing 24" steel casing through opening connecting each section by welding. The curbing contractor J&W poured seven throats today at NatureWalk Parkway using a 3000 concrete mix. The writer also observed work activities at Seven Hills phase 13. The blasting contractor continued drilling at building Lots #15, 14, 13 and 12. The pipe contractor Savannah continued installing storm line B at Pond A between B2-ST-JB and B3-ST-JB laying 26 LF of 24"ACCMP. Also observed 20 LF of 24" ACCMP laid to B4-ST-JB. The contractor used mixed materials (topsoil and clean fill) for backfill at the installed pipeline. The compaction results were estimated between 88% to 90% via probing using a rounded end steel rod. The contractor was reminded that compaction results should be 95% using structural fill. The grading contractor also began placing rockfill at building Lot #25. The contractor stated that the current elevation is -20'. We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
