Observations/Finding

The site was visited by the undersigned AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to assure compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were made on site today:

The contractor began compaction for the buildings pad of Lot 83. Due to the high moisture content of the onsite fill material (tested at 23%) lime was mixed with soil prior to placement and compaction to expedite drying.

A proof roll was performed after each lift. (A CAT Excavator and Skid Steer Loader was used to mix/place the lime and sand mixture, a full size Sheep’s Foot Compactor was used to perform the primary compaction and subsequent proofroll)

After each proofroll the contractor was informed of the areas that needed additional compaction due to the “pumping” of ground.

Soil placed on this day appeared to be acceptable.
