Observations/Finding
The site was visited by the undersigned AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to assure compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were made on site today:
The contractor began compaction for the buildings pad of Lot 84. Due to the moisture content of the onsite fill material (tested at 19%) lime was mixed with the soil prior to compaction to expedite drying.
The undersigned representative monitored the mixing and placement of this material. The area was probed and a proof roll was performed after each lift. (A CAT Excavator and Skid Steer Loader was used to mix/place the lime and sand mixture, a full size Compactor was used to perform the compaction and proofroll)
After each proofroll the contractor was informed of the areas that needed additional compaction due to the “pumping” of ground.
Upon completion two DCP tests were performed to test the resulting compaction. (See DCP test results) The contractor was informed of the test results.
