Daily Field Report
The site was visited by the undersigned AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques wee employed to assure compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observation were made on site today.
- The onsite inspector visually observed the completion of the placement of the sewer line between MH A4 through MH A5 as well as the setting of MH A5 followed by the placement of lateral #4. All pipe placed today was placed according to project specifications.
- The continuation of the placement of structural fill was observed between Lateral #3 and MH A5. The backfill was observed to be placed in accordance with the project specifications of 10” thick lifts and compacted utilizing a sheep’s foot roller. Random penetration resistance testing was utilized to verify compaction in this area during the placement of fill.
- During the backfill of the above mentioned area, the contractor was observed placing fill inside of lot #30 as well as lot #31. Approximately 5’ of fill was placed inside of lot #30 and approximately 2’ of fill placed upon lot #31. Based on review of guidelines for fill placement, the required compaction for structural fill at the above mentioned area is 95% of a standard proctor. Based on visual observation and field measuring, the fill was placed in 10” thick lifts and compacted using a sheep’s foot roller as well as a CAT 815. Based on density testing, the fill placed today at elevations of 1093 though 1098 and was compacted according to project specifications. See attached density test results for more details.
