Observations/Finding

The site was visited by the undersigned AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to assure compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observation were made on site today.

1. The inspector visually observed the contractor installing a corrugated pipe and 57 stone inside of the dewatering hole installing before the weekend on the area to the East of the first creek crossing. The contractor continually pumped the accumulating ground water throughout the duration of the stone bridge and structural fill. The contractor placed fabric over half of the East side of the pipe and placed approximately 1’ of 34stone. This area is being labeled Area 1, please refer to the attached document for area 1-2 location, layout, and measurements. Following the placement of the 34 stone, a second layer of filter fabric was placed on top of the stone before a 18” lift of soil was installed. The soil was compacted utilizing sheepsfoot compactor as well a CAT 815. Once Area 1 was compacted to a level that no yielding or rutting of the soil could be observed by proof rolling with the off road truck, standard backfilling operations could proceed. During the backfill of Area 1, Area 2 was back bladed for grade prior to following the identical installation procedures as listed for Area 1. Once the Area 2 was compacted to a point of passing a proof roll with the off road truck, standard backfilling efforts form Area 1 merged into Area 2 and the East side of the Creek crossing is ready for continual backfill. Both Area 1 and Area 2 were measured and agreed upon by the site inspector as well as the superintendent Morris Puckett.
