Daily Field Report
As requested, a ASEC Inspector was present at the above referenced site for the purpose of observing the placement of structural fill at the area of lot 295 and area between 295 and retaining wall approximate size 25 feet by 40 feet. Based on review of guidelines for fill placement, the required compaction for structural fill at the above mentioned area is 95 % of standard proctor. Based on visual observation and field measuring, the fill was placed in 8 to 12 inch thick lifts and compacted using CAT 815F sheepsfoot compactor(weight; 45,757 lbs.). Based on density testing, the fill placed today at elevations between approximately -7 feet and -6 feet below finished grade was compacted according to fill placement guidelines. See attached density test results for more details.
A proof roll was conducted in the above mentioned area using a fully loaded CAT 740B off highway truck (weight; 163,087lbs.) to evaluate the soil. Yielding of approximately 2 inches was observed and so approximately 3 feet of fill were removed to perform compaction again and then restart filling.
The rock hammer was used for 12 hours to continue breaking rocks to be placed in layers of fill.
ASEC recommends sealing of the surface of placed fill from inclement weather and maintain the positive drainage.
The contractor was notified about results.
