Observations/Finding
As requested, a ASEC Inspector was present at the above referenced site for the purpose of observing the placement of structural fill at the area of lots 287 through 291 and 343 through 347 approximate size 200 feet by 200 feet. Based on review of guidelines for fill placement, the required compaction for structural fill at the above mentioned area is 95 % of standard proctor. Based on visual observation and field measuring, the fill was placed in 8 to 12 inch thick lifts and compacted using CAT 815F sheepsfoot compactor(weight; 45,757 lbs.). Based on density testing, the fill placed today at elevations between approximately -7 feet and -6 feet below finished grade was compacted according to fill placement guidelines. See attached density test results for more details.
The undersigned ASEC Inspector was on site, on the above date, for the purpose of general site monitoring and assessment of contractor and subcontractor activities.
The following are observations that were made at this time:
mulch piles on site from organic moved and placed around silt fence border.
Precision blasting was on site blasting rock to be broken up and used in deep fill.
Rock was being reduced to smaller pieces to be used in deep fill areas.
A proof roll was observed in the approximate area of lots 315 through 319. The proof roll was conducted with a fully loaded CAT 773 rock truck (approximate full loaded weight; 219,000 lbs.). No significant discrepancies were noted, the area was compacted with CAT 815 to prepare for a first lift of rock.
ASEC recommends sealing of the surface of placed fill from inclement weather and maintain the positive drainage.
The contractor was notified about results.
