Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, a ASEC Inspector was present at the above referenced site for the purpose of observing the placement of structural fill at the area of lots 315 through 319 approximate size 35 feet by 150 feet. Based on review of guidelines for fill placement, the required compaction for structural fill at the above mentioned area is 95 % of standard proctor. Based on visual observation and field measuring, the fill was placed in 8 to 12 inch thick lifts and compacted using CAT 815F sheepsfoot compactor(weight; 45,757 lbs.). Based on density testing, the fill placed today at elevations between approximately -12 feet and -11 feet below finished grade was compacted according to fill placement guidelines. See attached density test results for more details.
The undersigned ASEC Inspector was on site, on the above date, for the purpose of general site monitoring and assessment of contractor and subcontractor activities. The following are observations that were made at this time:
- Temporary retention pond was cleaned of unsuitable soils and turned over to let the soils dry before placing structural fill in the area.
- Drilling continued on site by precision drilling.
- Continued rock breaking to make boulders a suitable size for fill layers.
A proof roll was done with a CAT 773 rock truck (approximate full weight, 219,000). This revealed that the yielding issue mentioned in previous reports seems to still be present. This was noted and the representative from Brent Scarborough was informed.
ASEC recommends sealing of the surface of placed fill from inclement weather and maintain the positive drainage.
The contractor was notified about results.
