Observations/Finding
The undersigned ASEC technician was present at 196 little gem court, to test the moisture content of soil sampled in the vicinity of the house.
The intent of this testing was to determine the difference in moisture contents of material around this residence verses the adjacent house at 194 little gem court. The home owner seemed to notice excessive moisture in the house and approached Pulte (client) to resolve this issue.
Hand augers were performed to a depth of approximately 5 feet. The soil samples were taken from 5 feet below existing grades at the front and the back of the house and a control sample was taken at the same depth from 194 little gem court as this house has experienced no problems.
The soil was described as light brown sandy silt and appears to be residual material. Groundwater was not encountered within the depth explored. The results of the tests are as follows:
- 196 little gem court. rear of the house – moisture content = 24.5%
- 196 little gem court. front of the house – moisture content = 23.0%
- 194 little gem court. rear of the house – control moisture = 24.0%
Our tests do not show a notable difference in the moisture content in the soils taken at both locations.
