Observations/Finding
The site was visited by the undersigned AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to assure compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were made on site today:
Clyde Smith was present for a proof-roll throughout the area between the southeast edge of rubble fill area #1 and the northeast edge of rubble fill area #2; from the previously placed rubble fill to the existing concrete pavement. A fully loaded Volvo A40 off-road truck was utilized during the proof-roll where major pumping and deflection was observed throughout the above-mentioned area. The inspector recommended undercutting -2’ below existing grade and bridging the deflecting area with 2’ of minus 12 material. A 12” lift of minus 4 material should be placed on top of the minus 12 followed with compaction effort. A proof roll of this area after the stone ‘bridging’ was recommended following the remediation.
