Observations/Finding

The site was visited by the undersigned AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to assure compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were made on site today:

A request was made to test lifts for the earthen lake dam on Barnett Shoals Road.  Three lifts approximately 10-12 inches thick were placed and completed with a Yancy CP3 sheeps-foot compactor and a Komatsu 51PX dozer.  The dam area measured approximately 55 feet x 85 feet.

A 3/8-inch probe rod was used and displayed a penetration depth of 6 to 12 inches.  A discussion with Ram Mogulla, Principal Enigneer with ASEC resulted in a request to have the compactor re-roll the entire area several times.
