Observations/Finding

The site was visited by the undersigned AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to assure compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were made on site today

Upon arrival it was observed the remains of an old dam keyway was being removed with a Komatsu excavator.    A discussion was held with Ram Mogulla PE, Professional Engineer with ASEC as an issue with water intrusion into the excavation was encountered.  Remediation consisted of pumping out all water and de-mucking the entire area.  Upon instruction from Mr. Mogulla, the first lift would not be checked for soil density or moisture content.  No vibration was recommended for compaction on the first two lifts.  Eight (8) 12-inch lifts were completed with a Komatsu 51PX bulldozer and a Catapillar CP3 vibrating sheeps-foot roller for compactor.  Please find the attached Density Reports.
