On June 9th & 10, 2022, Vidal Dias of AS Engineering and Consulting, LLC (ASEC) visited the site at the contractor’s request to observe footing excavations for the shallow foundations for Lot #48. On June 9th the footings were found to contain loose, wet soils and were unsuitable for concrete placement. Our representative returned to the site on June 10th and hand augering exposed stiff residual silty fine sands. Soils were found to be acceptable to support the proposed one-story structure for an allowable soil bearing pressure of 2000 psf. Auger refusal was encountered at three feet. Concrete should be placed before the onset of inclement weather. If excavations become wet and/or softened prior to concrete placement, ASEC should be contacted to re-evaluate the foundation soils.
