Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
The site was visited by Rasheen Biggins, AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to assure compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were made on site today
Upon arrival, our ASEC representative observed work was already in progress. The contractor was placing fill and compacting soils around a pipeline, alongside the dam area. Random probing performed one (1) foot away from pipeline found the soils to be loose up to 1.5 feet. Our representative recommended Morris (Contractor) to begin removing two (2) feet of wet soils and replacing with drier materials on each side of the pipeline. The length of the remediated area was measured at 57 feet in length on the left side of the pipe and 33 feet in length on the right side of the pipe. Once remediation was completed, the contractor began backfilling in lifts, and spread by a cat excavator. Compaction was performed with a Wacker packer. Density tests were done with Troxler #38069 and can be found in the attached density report.
