Observations/Finding

The site was visited by the undersigned AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to assure compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were made on site today.

Upon arrival, our ASEC representative observed project contractors placing fill in 10-inch lifts between the A7 and A8 structures (along the sewer line). After taking several density tests, our representative informed the contractor (Brad) of several failing tests. Contractor elected to continue to place fill.  It was further recommended to the contractor to place smaller lifts prior to compacting.  Following several more failing tests, it was decided to perform a proof-roll along this area as the fill soils may be of a different moisture-density relationship (proctor).  The proof-roll found the area in question to be stable.  Soil was brought by 2 cat dump trucks and spread by a bulldozer 39px.  A Sakai sv540t caterpillar was used for compaction.
