Observations/Finding

Our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative visited the site for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to assure compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were made on site today.

Upon arrival, our representative found that work was already in progress. Contractors were completing the final lift for the adjacent sewer line backfill. Density tests were performed, and results were reported to the contractor.  Density test results are attached.

The contractor wanted to continue backfilling 12ft around structure A11. After general probing the area around the structure was observed to exhibit soft and wet materials. After discussion with Ram Mogulla, P.E. of ASEC we recommended that two feet of soft, wet soils be removed to drier materials prior to backfilling. Once the remediation was complete, an 8-inch dry lift was placed and compacted to stabilize the area.
