Observations/Finding

Our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative visited the site for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to assure compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were made on site today.

Upon arrival, our representative observed that work was already in progress. The contractor continued placing fill in selected lot areas using a Komatsu 39px bulldozer.   Soils were transported by a 1 Cat dump truck, and compaction was done using a Sakai cp-11 caterpillar compactor. Each lift performed was under 10 inches in thickness. Density tests were performed.  Results are attached.  After several failing tests, the contractor questioned whether the soil type had changed to the point where a new moisture-density relationship might be required.
