Observations/Finding

AS Engineering and Consulting, LLC (ASEC) visited the site at the contractor’s request to observe footing excavations for Suncity Lot #37, Pod 15. During the evaluation, soils along the southwest portion of the lot (the garage footing area) were found to measure below 2000 psf bearing. Five DCP tests were taken using the Auto DCP.

The area in question was marked with white flagging.   We recommended that 2’x1’x 3′ (deep) piers be added to stabilize the foundation. A hand auger was used to excavate the soils, which revealed poorly compacted red to tan Silty fine to medium sands with clay and rock fragments.
