Observations/Finding

On August 8th, 2022, our AS Engineering and Consulting, LLC (ASEC) visited the site at the client’s request to evaluate the footings for Lot #37, Lot #61, Lot #22, and Lot 324 within the Suncity development. The results for each lot are provided below.

Pertaining to Lot #37, Pod 15 (308 Cypress Court Griffin, GA 30223). We revisited this lot to test the stem wall using the automatic DCP. We conducted one test along the stem wall, which revealed well-compacted materials with an acceptable bearing capacity of 2000 psf. After footings are cleaned out of loose materials, this lot is ready for concrete placement.

Pertaining to Lot #61, Pod 17: (148 Chinkapin Court Griffin, GA 30223).  This lot contains well-compacted materials and is ready for concrete placement; DCP results are noted below:

1: 6

2: 8

3: 10

4: AR (auger refusal)

Pertaining to Lot #22, Pod 17 (239 Nuttall Drive Griffin, GA 30223).  Tests for this lot were conducted along the STEM wall using the automatic DCP. During the evaluation, the top 18 inches of soils appeared to be unconsolidated and below acceptable bearing requirements. This section of material is located along the section of the stem wall adjacent to the street. The top 18 inches should be removed and replaced with compacted crushed stone or concrete, and the amount of reinforcing steel should be doubled. After this correction, this lot will be ready for concrete placement

Pertaining to Lot #24, Pod 17 (240 Nuttall Drive Griffin, GA 30223).  Foundations were found to test to the job specification of 2000 psf after DCP testing. This lot is ready for concrete placement.
